Xiaomi will Now Offer 4 Major OS Updates and 5 Years of Security Updates, Matching Samsung’s Software Policy – Wccftech

Xiaomi is responsible for making some of the finest smartphones in the market, and anyone who is looking for something that is not just powerful but also affordable, then that is where one should look at. However, the one issue that most people have is with the software updates that the company provides. However, that might change soon because the company has just announced that the Redmi K60 Extreme Edition will be the first phone to offer much better software support.

Xiaomi has joined Samsung and OnePlus with its software policy, but will it match them in frequency?

Now, there is a high chance that the Redmi K60 Extreme Edition is basically a Xiaomi 13T Pro, and even if that isn’t the case, the company has confirmed on its social media that this is going to e the first phone that will come with four generations of Android updates and five years of Android security updates. Not just that, the phone will also be among the first to receive the latest MIUI 15 once that launches.

Judging by this image, we can confirm that Redmi K60 Extreme Edition will be getting four major OS versions and five years of security updates. However, knowing MIUI’s version upgrades, it is still not confirmed just how many will be there. Hopefully, that will be confirmed once Xiaomi launches the phone in the global market.

Another interesting thing to note here is that Xiaomi has not clarified whether this software update promise extends outside China and to other devices or not. If that does happen, then the company will join the likes of Samsung and OnePlus and even beat Google at its own game in terms of software updates, es as the search engine giant only offers three years s Android updates and five years of security updates.

Now, it is good that Xiaomi is committing to offering four years of major Android up. However, another other thing to note here is that if the company wants to make sure that the users are still committed to the phones, then they will have to improve the frequency of updates, as well. Samsung does offer the same number of years, but the frequency is incredible, so that is another thing that the Chinese firm will have to work on.
