It is believed the woman, aged in her 20s, was jogging in the Orchid Beach area on Monday morning when she was set upon by four dingoes.

The woman ran into the water to try and escape the attack, during which she is believed to have sustained serious injuries, the Courier Mail reported.

A car driving on the beach veered towards the dingoes to scare them off, the driver alerting emergency services of the incident at around 9.15am.

The woman sustained wounds on her arms and will be flown to Hervey Bay Hospital for treatment.

This comes after a 10-year-old boy was attacked and dragged underwater by a dingo on the island last month.

More to come.
