PGIM Opportunity Midcap Fund: Rs 5,000
UTI Next 50 Index Fund: Rs 8,000

Existing mutual fund corpus is Rs 8.5 lakh.

I also have an EPF contribution of Rs 10,000 per month with an existing accumulation of Rs 13 lakh till now. I have also been buying SGB gold bonds every year for the last three years. I am also contributing Rs 6000 per month to NPS. I am looking for Rs 4 crore corpus for my retirement.

Assuming an annual return of 12%, you need to invest Rs 40,000 every month to make Rs 4 crore in 20 years. If you continue to invest Rs 25,000, you will be able to create a corpus of Rs 2.5 crore in 20 years. A word of caution: don’t choose round numbers for your long term goals. Always work with real numbers, annual inflation rate, taxes to arrive at a realistic target.

A moderate equity investor is typically asked to invest in flexi cap mutual funds to take care of his long-term goals. You are investing in three large cap funds, a mid cap scheme, and small cap scheme. If you want to create a portfolio in this fashion, make sure to have a proper allocation to each market capitalisations.
