Apple users can finally multitask during a WhatsApp video call without their video being paused thanks to the new picture-in-picture mode.

The new feature allows you to open other apps during your video calls without disrupting them, as reported by 9to5Mac.

The messaging platform first started testing the feature last year and gets rid of an issue that had plagued iOS users.

Similar to FaceTime’s picture-in-picture mode, Apple users will now have their WhatsApp video call windows shrink to sit on top of any app they switch to during an ongoing call.

The new picture-in-picture update is part of Whatsapp’s latest iOS update (version 23.3.77) but you might have to wait a bit to use it.

The update also includes the ability to add captions when sending documents, longer group subjects and descriptions, as well as personalized avatars that can be used as stickers and profile photos.

The Meta-owned company has said that these features will roll out ‘over the coming weeks’.

Earlier this month, Whatsapp launched ‘the number one feature’ requested by users with ‘Status Reactions’.

It also introduced the ability to record and share voice messages up to 30 seconds on WhatsApp status and gave users control over who can view their status with the ‘Audience Selector’ feature.
