WhatsApp has finally introduced a much-requested feature to edit your messages after you send them.
So, if you send a message with an embarrassing typo, text the wrong person, or simply change your mind, you can go back and undo it.
However, you’ll have to be quick about it as you only have 15 minutes in which a message can be edited.
Edited messages will display ‘edited’ alongside them, so those you’re messaging are aware of the correction without showing edit history.
‘From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, we’re excited to bring you more control over your chats,’ said WhatsApp on Monday.
All you need to do is long-press on a sent message and choose ‘Edit’ from the menu for up to fifteen minutes after.
‘You can now edit your WhatsApp messages up to 15 mins after they’re sent!’ said Mark Zuckerberg in a social post announcing the update.
As with all personal messages, media and calls, your messages and edits are protected by end-to-end encryption.
The messaging service said the feature has started rolling out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
Last week, WhatsApp introduced a security feature that lets users lock and hide ‘intimate conversations’ with a password.
