WhatsApp recently announced that it will allow users to send short video messages directly in chats.

This feature is similar to the voice messages that WhatsApp already offers and now users can record and send videos up to 60 seconds long.

‘Now you can record and share short personal videos directly in the chat,’ the company said in a blog post.

‘Video messages are a real-time way to respond to chats with whatever you want to say and show in 60 seconds.’

How to send a video message on WhatsApp

To send a video message on WhatsApp, simply open a chat and tap on the video camera icon.

Once you start recording, you can hold down the button to record a continuous video or tap the button to record a short clip. When you’re done recording, release the button to send the video message.

You can also swipe up to lock and record the video hands-free. Videos will play automatically on mute when opened in a chat, and tapping on the video will start the sound.

WhatsApp added that video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption so no one else can see your videos.

This update should be a great way to share quick updates with friends and family. They can be used to show someone something you’re seeing, to share a funny moment, or to just say hello. And because they’re only 60 seconds long, they’re easy to watch and share.

The new video message feature is rolling out to WhatsApp users around the world ‘in the coming weeks’. If you don’t see it yet, don’t worry, it should be available to you soon.
