What time is the SpaceX Starship rocket launch today and how can you watch it?

SpaceX recently postponed the eagerly anticipated launch of its Starship rocket less than 10 minutes before take off.

The launch, which was set to take place on April 17 at 8am Central Time (2pm BST), was called off due to a ‘stage 1’ fueling issue.

Addressing the postponement, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk tweeted: ‘Learned a lot today, now offloading propellant, retrying in a few days.’

As promised, the starship has now been rescheduled for launch.

The as-yet-unnamed Starship rocket is the world’s biggest rocket at 120 metres tall, it aims to one day help humans get to Mars and the Moon.

The rocket – comprised of both a spacecraft of the same name and a Super Heavy rocket booster – hopes to leave the Earth’s atmosphere and orbit during the test, as well as have the Super Heavy booster achieve a partial vertical landing.

So, when is SpaceX’s launch set to happen, and can you watch Starship take off with your own eyes?

SpaceX’ is aiming for the Starship rocket launch to blast off from 9.28 am EDT – 1.28pm BST (UK time) today (Thursday, April 20) working within a 62-minute window.

How to watch the Starship rocket launch live in the UK

SpaceX has details of a livestream on its official website that will be available to watch, with the live webcast of the flight test will beginning around 45 minutes before liftoff.

You can find details of the milestones that SpaceX will endeavor to reach in the run-up to the launch, although they’re not all guaranteed to happen to secure a successful launch.

The SpaceX YouTube channel also has a livestream that is set to go live from 1.45pm BST.

Starship’s launch is taking place on the SpaceX Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas.
