WETHERSPOONS is bringing back its Valentine’s Day meal deal for two – but there’s a change.
One of the UK’s most popular pub chains is offering the two dine for £22 offer across the majority of its boozers.
But that makes it £2 more expensive than last year when the same deal was priced at £20.
A Wetherspoons spokesperson said the pub chain believes it is “excellent value for money“.
The deal includes two main meals, two desserts and two drinks.
The offer is running for one day only – February 14, Valentine’s Day.
Customers will be able to choose from items usually found on the normal menu, although what you can get exactly will vary from location to location.
Wetherspoons’ website says full details of the meals and desserts included will be on posters in your local.
They will also be able to upgrade their drinks to a bottle of Prosecco or pinot noir wine for £6 extra too.
For example, you can get an 8oz steak with an alcoholic drink for £9.15 typically.
A warm chocolate brownie with ice cream costs £3.70.
If two people bought these offers it would total £25.70 in total.
So you could make a £3.70 saving by taking up the Valentine’s Day offer.
The price rise comes as the cost of everyday essentials, such as food and fuel soar, with December’s inflation at 10.5%.
Food and drink inflation soared to 16.8% in the same month, up from 16.4% in November.
McDonald’s hiked the prices on a number of burgers last summer, with some going up by 20p.
Wetherspoons sparked fury after increasing the price of guest ale by 29%.
It’s worth noting, not all Wetherspoons venues will be hosting the Valentine’s Day offer – so it might be worth calling your local to see if they are doing it.
You can find your nearest Spoons by using the pub locator on its website.
Wetherspoon has 861 pubs across the UK, and employs tens of thousands of staff.
It recently confirmed 10 of its boozers will be closing their doors for good.
There are 35 outlets still up for sale though, at locations included London, Birmingham and Middlesbrough.
A number of other retailers are running Valentine’s Day offers this year.
Aldi exclusively revealed to The Sun it will be running a meal deal for two under £8.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Co-Op are all running offers.
