We won a £392k People’s Postcode Lottery windfall… but we were left gutted by how we found out

NEIGHBOURS who landed a whopping £392,000 in People’s Postcode Lottery were left “gutted” by how they found out.

Judy Eastwood and Scott Wood are among 1,400 who are sharing an £11.2million prize pot.

The Kent couple say the win couldn’t have come at a better time as their list of house repairs continues to grow.

And while Judy and Scott are just one of three families who won six-figure sums, they get to celebrate with their good pals and neighbours Richard Clements and Sue Lally.

Judy, 57, said there was one thing that they were disappointed about – that their mates were away when they heard of the £392,417 win.

She told Metro: “Wow. I knew we’d won something but didn’t expect to get the big cheque.”

Neighbours Richard and Sue were away visiting family in Hertfordshire when Judy discovered how much they’d both won – so she video-called them with the news.

Judy said: “I’m gutted they’re not here, it would’ve been lovely to share it with them.”

The couple said they instantly hit it off with their neighbours Richard and Sue – and it was special they now landed the People’s Postcode Lottery together.

Judy said: “The moving truck had just left the drive when they knocked on the door with a takeaway menu for us and said they going to the pub and we were welcome to join them.

“We did and they were so lovely – they introduced us to everybody.”’

Judy and Scott have been playing lottery for years but only moved to Deal about 20 months ago – and have a lot of work to do on their homes.

The 57-year-old executive assistant for a finance company said: “We’ve had a heating engineer out three times this week and he told us the boiler was on its last legs.

“Now we don’t have to save up for a new one.”

But they’re also planning a much-needed getaway.

Judy continued: “Scott’s just had a knee op which has stopped us going away this year.

“I’m an Elvis fan so I’d like to do a Memphis, Nashville and New Orleans trip and Scott’s always wanted to do Alaska.

“And we’d been talking about taking his 19-year-old son Kody and his girlfriend Sophie to Florida next year too.”

Around 1,400 people in the seaside town won their share of £11.2m.

Judy said: “Deal will be rocking today because everyone will be out celebrating.

“And because the money is spread out, everyone will benefit as we’ll all be buying drinks and meals and getting jobs done indoors.”

It comes after an OAP secured £333,000 on the Postcode Lottery but was told she would only take home a third because of an age-old pact.

And in Birmingham, a great gran-of-five bagged £111,111 as part of a £1m win amongst her and eight neighbours.

Joan Buckingham revealed what her lucky charm was ever since she bought the first one a decade ago.

And one group of neighbours on a Manchester estate won £3.2million between them this summer.
