Warwickshire town named one of 50 coolest places in UK – Coventry Live


A Warwickshire town has been named one of the coolest places to the live in the UK, ahead of the likes of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Durham and Newcastle’s Jesmond. A public poll conducted by CBD company Naturecan, found Leamington Spa is the place to be in Warwickshire, placing 38th on the coolest 50 list.

The town is renowned for its cafe culture, independent shops and restaurants and gorgeous parks. It was also host to some of the Commonwealth Games last year – hosting the bowling matches at Victoria Park.



The town’s tourist website, sells the area as having: “Wide boulevards, stunning architecture and award-winning parks” providing a “sophisticated backdrop to this Regency town.”

With a current population of around 50,000 (100,000 in the surrounding area), the average price for a property in the area was £397,646 over the last year, according to Rightmove.

Formerly a village up until around the 18th century, its water was found to have reputed medicinal qualities. This saw the spa town boom in the 19th century and transform into an exclusive

era hangout for wealthy Georgians. In 1838, Queen Victoria granted the town a ‘Royal’ prefix, meaning ‘Leamington Priors’ was renamed ‘Royal Leamington Spa’.
