US pilot says he dodged ‘mysterious dark cube floating in the sky’

A US Navy pilot said UFOs are an ‘open secret’ among fighter pilots during a congressional hearing today.

Lt Ryan Graves, a former F-18 pilot, stated two jets were once forced to make evasive manouevres to avoid a ‘dark grey cube inside of a clear sphere,’ which stood ‘motionless against the wind’.

Lt Graves is one of three witnesses who testified before a hearing in Congress on Wednesday, investigating claims of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) – formerly UFOs.

In his opening remarks, the military veteran said UAP sightings were so common, both on radar and visual sightings, that ‘over time, [they] became an open secret among our aircrew’.

The pilot, who served in Afghanistan, recounted the case of the mysterious grey cube, witnessed by several personnel 10 miles off the Virginia coast.

‘A pivotal incident occurred during an air combat training mission in Warning Area W-72, an exclusive block of airspace ten miles east of Virginia Beach,’ he will say. ‘All traffic into the training area goes through a single GPS point at a set altitude.

‘Just at the moment the two jets crossed the threshold, one of the pilots saw a dark grey cube inside of a clear sphere – motionless against the wind, fixed directly at the entry point. The jets, only 100 feet apart, were forced to take evasive action. They terminated the mission immediately and returned to base.

‘Our squadron submitted a safety report, but there was no official acknowledgement of the incident and no further mechanism to report the sightings.’

Lt Graves noted that, although a trained engineer, he cannot explain how the UAP, which was between five and 15ft in diameter, was able to fly.

‘They did not have any visible means of lift, control surfaces or propulsion – nothing that resembled normal aircraft with wings, flaps or engines,’ he said.

Later, Lt Graves founded Americans for Safe Aerospace, which he describes as a ‘haven’ for UAP witnesses, including other military personnel and commercial pilots who do not wish to speak out for fear of professional consequences.

Lt Graves was joined in testifying by former Department of Defence analyst David Charles Grusch, who has alleged the US government has evidence of ‘intact and partially intact’ alien vehicles.

While Lt Graves did not go so far as to pinpoint the origin of the vehicle he witnessed, he concluded: ‘If UAP are foreign drones, it is an urgent national security problem. If it is something else, it is an issue for science. In either case, it is a concern for safety of flight.’
