UP government set to revolutionise state transport with advanced technology to uplift citizen-centric services – The Financial Express

The Uttar Pradesh government is exploring a major option to transform its state transport by leveraging advanced technological capabilities to enhance citizen-centric services across the region.

The initiative is led by Uttar Pradesh Electronics Corporation Limited (UPELC), the nodal agency appointed to provide IT/ITES solutions. Further, the development of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) web portal is underway to revolutionise the way transportation services are accessed and managed in the state.

Revamping data-driven transport facilities

The comprehensive revamp of the UPSRTC portal is aimed at fostering a robust data-driven ecosystem within an integrated technological framework. The major facet of this gumption is the provision of online bus timetables for all routes, empowering passengers with convenient access to schedules, thereby optimising travel experiences and minimising congestion.

Besides, the real-time monitoring of vehicle movements and conducting online surveys to gauge passenger preferences, the state transport department eyes operational efficiency and profitability too.

Notably, innovative features such as the ‘Bus Health System’ for monitoring vehicle maintenance and the ‘Smart Bus Rating System’ are part of the portal’s development phase. It is aimed at ensuring service quality delivery with seamless passenger experience.

In addition to these, the redeveloped portal will prioritise safety and emergency management. It is noteworthy that an emergency notification system will be implemented to promptly alert passengers in case of any mishap or breakdowns.

Furthermore, the portal will provide a rewards program for commuters to encourage engagement and loyalty while enhancing overall satisfaction.

Integrating critical systems

To enable seamless facilities, a designated software agency will be hired to ensure high-end execution and ongoing maintenance of the feature-rich UPSRTC portal.
