The great mystic started devouring, much to the embarrassment of his disciples. One of the disciples nudged him and said, ‘Master, an enlightened person like you, shouldn’t eat so greedily and frivolously. What will people think of you?’ Bayazid laughed uproariously and asked his disciple: ‘Son, where and in which scripture has it been written that a so-called enlightened person should not indulge in life’s innocuous pleasures and remain grim all the time?’
