UK government offers lump sum and 5% pay rise to NHS workers


The UK government has made a pay offer to NHS workers that would award them a “substantial” lump sum in the current financial year and a 5 per cent pay increase in 2023-24, union sources confirmed on Thursday.

Unions are now consulting their members to decide whether they can recommend the offer and call off strikes that were scheduled for next week. An announcement is expected later this afternoon.
