U.S. shares higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.43%
Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the added 0.43%, while the index climbed 0.57%, and the index gained 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 1.81% or 0.57 points to trade at 32.09 at the close. Boeing Co (NYSE:) added 1.48% or 3.07 points to end at 211.04 and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 1.41% or 0.48 points to 34.63 in late trade.
Biggest losers included American Express Company (NYSE:), which lost 0.72% or 1.18 points to trade at 162.41 in late trade. Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:) declined 0.42% or 0.94 points to end at 222.36 and 3M Company (NYSE:) shed 0.40% or 0.41 points to 102.78.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:) which rose 4.39% to 309.11, Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 3.74% to settle at 46.87 and Paycom Soft (NYSE:) which gained 3.65% to close at 296.29.
The worst performers were Signature Bank (OTC:) which was down 22.29% to 0.19 in late trade, SVB Financial Group (OTC:) which lost 7.73% to settle at 0.90 and Charles Schwab Corp (NYSE:) which was down 4.96% to 52.47 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Scynexis Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 76.05% to 2.94, Palisade Bio Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 57.74% to settle at 2.65 and Accelerate Diagnostics Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 41.49% to close at 0.71.
The worst performers were mCloud Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 49.04% to 0.37 in late trade, G Medical Innovations Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which lost 38.29% to settle at 1.66 and Cyxtera Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 34.69% to 0.42 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2055 to 932 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1817 rose and 1787 declined, while 162 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 0.52% to 19.02.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.74% or 14.75 to $1,999.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.93% or 1.41 to hit $74.38 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 0.98 to trade at $78.57 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.09, while USD/JPY fell 0.18% to 132.60.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 101.84.
