The biggest gainers of the session on the were Anglo American PLC (LON:), which rose 5.42% or 129.50 points to trade at 2,520.50 at the close. IMI PLC (LON:) added 3.29% or 58.00 points to end at 1,820.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:) was up 2.38% or 13.00 points to 558.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:), which lost 4.88% or 63.00 points to trade at 1,227.00 in late trade. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:) declined 1.55% or 1.60 points to end at 101.80 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:) shed 1.47% or 62.00 points to 4,148.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 928 to 779 and 726 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.68% or 18.21 to $2,683.01 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $68.67 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.40 to trade at $72.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 106.03.
