MAUI — The ESPN 300 Elite Hawaii Camp made its final stop of the year, setting up camp in Hawaii on the island of Maui in a camp highlighted by a strong group of linemen and some good linebacker play.
Held on the campus of King Kekaulike HS, over 400 participants took part in the traditional Elite Underclassmen Camp, with drills and testing then 1-on-1’s.
It was a strong camp overall and two players earned invites to the Under Armour All-America Game.
Here’s our look at some of the top performers we saw from today’s camp.
ALPHA DOG
Houston Kaahaaina-Torres, OL, Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis – 2025
Kaahaaina-Torres came to the event a year ago and did all the testing and individual drills but a wrist injury kept him out of the 1-on-1 so we didn’t get to see him at full strength. He more than made up for it this year, earning an invite to the 2025 Under Armour All-America Game and dominating in the 1-on-1 and showed why he’s one of the premier prospects on the Islands for the class of 2025. His initial punch was his best trait and he almost immediately neutralized the defender with that punch en route to a dominant showing at the event.
NEXT FIVE OFFENSE
Ty McCutcheon, QB, Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou – 2024
McCutcheon has been money at every 7v7 tournament he’s been to this spring, leading his 7v7 team, Lo-Pro to four major tournament titles, including the OT7 Championship last month. He was also a top performer at the Elite 11 Regional in Eugene and impressed at the Under Armour Next Camp in Southern California in April. But he was at his absolute best on Saturday, earning QB MVP honors, after just missing the MVP a year ago at the same event. The Utah Tech commit will be the starter at Punahou for the first time this fall and it wouldn’t be a surprise if more G5 and P5 schools take a long look after he finally gets his chance at the starting job.
Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele, QB, Ewa Beach (Hawaii) Campbell – 2025
Sagapolutele, the big armed lefty, is arguably the top junior-to-be passer on the Islands in 2025 and matched McCutcheon for the most consistent passer on the day. His older brother, John, is now at Hawaii and is the reason the younger southpaw went to Campbell to start while his brother held on to the starting role at Punahou for four years but Jaron may be a better prospect at the same stage and impressed on Saturday. Washington, Hawaii, San Diego State and San Jose State are among his early offers.
Davyn Joseph, WR, Mililani (Hawaii) – 2024
Joseph caught everything thrown to him, showing a wide catch radius, great body control and ball skills and had one of the most impressive catches of the day when he had a linebacker all over him, pass interference, holding, you name it and Joseph still came up with the catch, getting his foot down and grabbing it for a completion on the sideline.
Astin Hange, WR, Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou – 2024
Hange was a problem all day for the linebackers who attempted to cover him in the slot and the DBs who thought they could run with him. We’ve see him be a pest for defenders all spring on the 7v7 circuit and Saturday was no different. He is so quick and creative in his routes and knowing when to make a move to freeze a defender and would get 2-3 steps on the defender before he even realized what happened while Hange easily came down with the ball. Air Force is getting a good one in Hange.
Rustin Young, OL, Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis
Young had quite the day on Saturday. Originally unable to come because he was supposed to volunteer at a community event in Oahu, Young was a late addition to the camp when that event fell through and went from not even attending the camp to earning a prestigious invite to play in the 2024 Under Armour All-America Game. We saw him back in January at the Warriors 4 Youth Ikaika Athletics Lineman Showcase and he had no offers and was making the transition from defensive line to offensive line. This spring, he’s seen his stock soar and Boise State, Hawaii, Oregon State and Utah have all been focusing hard on him, with the latter two Pac-12 schools making the biggest impression on him.
NEXT FIVE DEFENSE
Kekai Burnett, Edge, Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou – 2024
Burnett was arguably the top defensive lineman there and showed a quick first step, power and leverage in his reps. Burnett does a good job using his hands and shedding his blocks and gets a good push on his blocker to get into the backfield and can be a problem as a pass-rusher. Oregon State, Washington State, Hawaii and Cal are among his top suitors.
Isaiah Iosefa, LB, Mililani (Hawaii) – 2025
Iosefa was probably the smoothest and most assertive linebacker and most consistent linebacker during the event, willing to take on slot receivers and backs and showing physicality in the initial yards off the ball to limit their opportunities to get open and separate and had a number of pass break ups.
Max Fonoimoana, LB, Kahuku (Hawaii) – 2025
Fonoimoana just missed MVP honors and was another ‘backer who showed stellar coverage ability and matched up with a number of different receivers while showing the ability to run with them and make plays on the ball. Fonoimoana had a big interception where he skied for the pick on deep out route, showing that he can find the football in coverage. We wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up even further up in the box in college as an edge rusher but pass coverage is something he’s more than adept at doing.
Tyreé Alualu, LB, Wexford (Pa.) North Allegheny – 2024
Alualu is the son of longtime NFL defensive lineman and former NFL first round pick Tyson Alualu, who played at St. Louis HS in Honolulu, so it was a homecoming of sorts for the younger Alualu, who was one of the MVPs at the event. While his father has made his money as a defensive lineman, the younger Alualu is a linebacker by trade and fought for several reps and showed an ability to move well laterally and move in space and was stout in pass coverage.
Kaimana Carvalho, DB, Kahuku (Hawaii) – 2025
Carvalho is one of the most dynamic players in the state and while he was overshadowed at times by his older brother, Kainoa Carvalho, who signed with Utah, the younger Carvalho is bigger and stronger than his big brother and can play either receiver, corner or safety and he had his best showing on Saturday playing in the secondary, earning MVP honors amongst the defensive backs.
