iPhone enthusiasts might have to wait a little longer for the release date of the new iPhone 15.
Apple fans have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the iPhone 15, but there is some speculation that the new phone’s debut could be delayed until October this year.
The latest rumour comes from a research note from a Bank of America analyst who claims that his sources suggest that next-generation iPhones will be held up ‘by a few weeks’.
This would mean that the new iPhones would not be released in September, as is usually the case, but in October.
Or, Apple could still go ahead with its September launch event while the phones go on sale a bit later than usual.
The reasons for the delay could be the ongoing chip shortage and production snags due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mohan’s report is not the first to suggest that the iPhone 15 could be delayed. In May, a report from DigiTimes claimed that Apple was facing production delays due to the ongoing chip shortage.
However, other analysts have cast doubt on these rumours, suggesting that the iPhone 15 is still on track for a September release.
Either way, customers should still be able to get the phones by Christmas. The new iPhone 15 is rumoured to have quite a few design changes with a titanium frame, USB-C port, thinner bezels and new colours.
Despite the big ‘no buttons’ change being dropped, the iPhone 15 is still expected to feature one crucial difference.
Due to an EU law passed last year, Apple will have to change the charging port on the bottom of the new iPhone to a USB-C connection.
