In today’s edition of Up To Speed Live, hosts Raquel Wilson and Jen Marin gave us an update on Hurricane Idalia, our Verizon Internet Gateway, and even more plans, promotions and security features putting the customer at the forefront of everything we do.
Hurricane Update
Hurricane Idalia is expected to make landfall in Florida this week. As always, our Verizon Frontline Response and network teams are working to ensure our teams and assets are ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice to help recover critical communications.
Stay tuned for updates on our recovery efforts. If you or a loved one is in the path of the storm, here’s some guidance on how to prepare.
Verizon Internet Gateway
Last week, we introduced the new Verizon Internet Gateway, the latest innovation for Verizon Home Internet, which is set to deliver exceptional home internet speeds and signal strength with new technology.
Heather McDavitt, who leads Home Product Management, and Richard Dalton, who leads Experience Design, joined Raquel and Jen to share more about the Gateway.
Heather said that “when we design our home devices, we design them for optimal performance” with both design and technology in mind. On the technology side, the Gateway is “the latest technology the market can offer,” which is packed with “better cellular coverage, better in-home wifi coverage” and more. As Heather aptly put it, this translates to “better internet.”
This device is better than our competitors’ offerings because of tri-band, which “introduces a third radio on the 6GHZ channel in addition to the traditional two radios.” The best part? We’re the only provider that offers this on fixed wireless access FWA devices.
On the design side, Richard noted that “this is the second device that we’ve launched using our Hardware 2.0 design language.” Sharp edges and an angular form convey the device’s high-performance nature, and it’s able to “blend into customers’ homes because this is a device that we need customers to put out on display” for optimal performance.
In addition to this latest technology, eligible Verizon Home Internet customers can get this season of NFL Sunday Ticket from YouTube and YouTube TV, on us. That’s up to $449 in savings, on us.
Plus, as employees, you are eligible for $100 off Sunday Ticket on YouTube and YouTube TV which can be redeemed through +play.

We have a new program called “Refer a friend,” which gives customers the ability to earn money for anyone they refer to Verizon.
Current Verizon customers get $15 per month in bill credit for every person that signs up for service using their unique code. Customers can refer up to 10 friends and save $1,800 per year.
Plus, if you join Verizon, you can save $15 per month for a year for each line you activate. You can add up to 12 lines to save up to $2,160 per year.
This offer isn’t open to employees, but you can still help your loved ones enjoy Verizon by sharing your Friends & Family code. New customers who use your code will save up to $25/mo off new Unlimited postpaid mobile accounts and $10/mo off Fios Gigabit Connection plans.
4040 text to opt out
Did you know that more than 80 percent of email-to-text messages are identified as spam?
Now, Verizon is giving you an easy way to stop them dead in their tracks. Simply text OFF to 4040 to block pesky spam texts and safeguard both you and your digital world.
We have a host of digital security tools like Call Filter and Digital Secure, and 4040 is yet another way Verizon is keeping our customers safe and secure.
Flashwave 4500 Router
Recently, in Richardson, Texas, Vice President of Core Network Engineering Tara Mooar, and a team of Core Network Engineers, powered down a Flashwave 4500 router that used to support network customers for power savings and cost savings.
The group took a moment to celebrate the occasion, as one of GN&T’s major goals this year is to decommission network equipment that’s no longer supporting our customers. This enables us to cut down on power and space costs, as well as allowing for the growth of directional equipment and saving energy usage – while helping out the environment, too.
2023 Payment Security Report
The new Verizon Payment Security Report has launched. It’s recognized as the premier annual research publication on payment security and has shaped the payment card industry more than any other publication — and strengthened security significantly.
The report provides insights to help all organizations that store, process or transmit cardholder data become compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard version 4.0, which will go into effect March 31, 2024.
