The Big Number: 3.3%


The economic growth last year far outpaced that of the year before and was much faster than the average for the five years preceding the pandemic.

That healthy pace came despite the consistently high interest rates that have been handed down by the Federal Reserve, which some economists feared would push the economy into a recession.
