Tech Marvel Runner-Up Statewide Central Station Adds AI to Video … – Security Sales & Integration

Dedication to automation and data analytics improve Statewide’s operational efficiency, decision-making and personalized service delivery.

There’s a belief in some circles that going into business with your family is fraught with disaster, but the brother-and-sister team of Steven Coppola and Pamela Columbia are bucking that notion as co-presidents of Statewide Central Station, the company that earned 2023 SSI/TMA Monitoring Technology Marvel Award runner-up status.

Statewide Central Station, which opened in 2002, monitors more than 100,000 accounts from locations in Staten Island, Staten Island and Long Island, N.Y., and Tampa, Fla.

The company offers a slew of services, including security systems monitoring, digital monitoring, cell & IP monitoring, elevator monitoring, sprinkler monitoring, fire alarm monitoring, area of refuge monitoring, PERS monitoring, managed access control monitoring, IP cameras & video look-in monitoring, interactive video monitoring, AI smart video monitoring, central station monitoring, utility/environmental monitoring and power feed and backup generator monitoring.

Statewide Central Station has built up its customer base over the past couple of decades through a dealer program that company leaders say represents “a partnership opportunity for security industry professionals and companies.”

The program allows dealers to leverage Statewide Central Station’s infrastructure, expertise and resources to enhance their own offerings and provide comprehensive monitoring services to their customers.

Dealers gain access to Statewide Central Station’s advanced technology, nationwide monitoring centers and industry knowledge through flexible solutions that are designed to meet their specific needs, enabling them to expand their business, increase recurring monthly revenue (RMR), and provide reliable security services.

Statewide Central Station provides training, support, and a strong partnership to help dealers succeed in the alarm monitoring industry.

Recently, Statewide Central Station has implemented technological improvements, including hot redundant central station solutions, noting that redundant systems, such as servers, network connections and backup power sources, ensure uninterrupted operation.

The company also implemented advanced alarm verification algorithms, adding that sophisticated algorithms and machine learning techniques analyze alarm signals, reducing false alarms and improving response accuracy, and enhanced communication channels, because Cloud platforms, mobile apps, and secure web portals enable real-time communication for faster response and coordination.

Why Statewide is a Tech Marvel Runner-Up

Statewide relies on automation and data analytics to improve its operational efficiency, decision-making and personalized service delivery. The company uses redundant servers, network equipment and power sources to minimize single points of failure, multiple monitoring centers in different areas to allow seamless takeover in case of localized issues or disasters, and robust backup and recovery solutions to protect critical data with off-site storage for quick restoration.

While Statewide Central Station offers a slew of services already, it knows the world of central station monitoring is always evolving and changing and the company needs to be ready as that evolution and change occurs.

“The future of technologies such as PERS, video monitoring, AI in video surveillance, GPS tracking, smart home integration and managed access control holds great potential,” Coppola told SSI in their Tech Marvel application. “These technologies have already made significant advancements, and the industry is expected to continue innovating and refining them.”

PERS, for instance, is “likely to become more advanced and accessible, offering improved safety and peace of mind for individuals, especially the elderly and those with medical conditions,” says Coppola.

“Video monitoring and AI in video surveillance will continue to evolve, incorporating advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities to enhance security and automate surveillance processes,” he says.

Integrating GPS tracking with various applications will expand, says Coppola, enabling better asset tracking, fleet management and location-based services. Smart home technology will become more pervasive, with increased connectivity and interoperability among devices, giving homeowners greater control over their homes and energy efficiency, he says.

Managed access control solutions will see advancements in biometric authentication, Cloud-based systems and seamless integration with other security systems, says Columbia. This will offer businesses enhanced security and convenience in managing access to their premises, she says.

“These technologies are poised to become more sophisticated, intelligent, and interconnected,” Columbia told SSI. “We will cater to the evolving needs of individuals and industries, delivering improved security, convenience, and efficiency. We can expect further integration and innovation in these areas as technology advances, shaping the industry’s future.”
