A total of five sports facilities will be recognized for their leadership in addressing
safety and security issues as part of the 2023 National Sports Safety and Security
Conference & Exhibition on June 27-29 in San Antonio. The event is presented annually
by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS⁴) at The University
of Southern Mississippi.
The Facility of Merit Award recognizes a sports facility that has demonstrated an
innovative approach to enhancing safety and security beyond its normal operations
or addressed a significant safety/security concern.
“We look forward to recognizing these outstanding facilities and their management
teams for their innovative work,” said Dr. Stacey A. Hall, NCS⁴ Executive Director
and Professor of Sport Management.
Each league or organization selects the criteria and makes the determination as to
who will be recognized. Facilities receiving the award include:
- Grandma’s Marathon
- O. Campbell Education Center – Aldine ISD
- Charles Schwab Field Omaha
- Minute Maid Park
- Allegiant Stadium
The awards will be presented at an annual Awards Luncheon that takes place on the
second day of the conference. The luncheon is sponsored by Evolv Technology, which provides weapons detection systems for security screening.
