Belagavi — one of the fastest growing cities in the country — boasts of industries operating in the fields of mining, sugar, engineering, hydraulics, toys and handloom, among others. Rich deposits of bauxite and uranium make Belagavi a key centre for manufacturing of heavy machine tools and high pressure oil hydraulics. The advantage of being located in the middle of the Bengaluru-Mumbai region is actually helping the city become a support base for automobile and aerospace industries.
According to the Karnataka Economic Survey 2023, among the state’s industrial ecosystem, the Belagavi district has the second-highest number of establishment units, at around 3 lakh, after Bengaluru Urban, at over 78 lakh. It is also among the six districts to have a GDP higher than the state’s average; the others are Bengaluru Urban, Dakshina Kannada, Ballari, Tumakuru and Udupi.
Similar to the first three sessions, Belagavi’s events are also expected to help MSMEs connect with peers, stakeholders and senior officials so that small businesses can find ways to tackle challenges and explore growth opportunities.
