Should you rent or buy a home?

Over the past two years UK rental costs have behaved unusually, rising strongly in step with housing costs for owner-occupiers.

For tenants, rising rents may have spurred them into making the first move on to the housing ladder, bolstered by the prospect that interest rates may begin falling later this year.

But for some, the higher costs of home ownership over renting are a difficult pill to swallow at a time of tight personal finances.

Are you determined to break out of the rented sector, even if buying means higher costs? Or are you keen to do so, but worried about whether you can afford it?

FT Money is keen to hear from readers facing the “buy or rent” decision and what it means for them. Please email money@ft.com and we will keep your message in confidence.
