Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced the seven individuals who will serve on the U.S. Section of the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) Talent for Growth Task Force. The Task Force’s work is intended to encourage public and private sector initiatives to drive development of the talent and skills needed for emerging and existing technologies.
The individuals serving on the Task Force will collaborate with the European Union (EU) members to collectively provide actionable and specific recommendations directly to the TTC Co-Chairs on how to expand innovative, employer-based training in the United States and the EU.
In addition to Secretary Raimondo, the other TTC Co-Chairs include U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, European Commission Executive Vice-President and European Union Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, and European Commission Executive Vice-President and EU Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis.
“In order to be competitive on the technologies that are key to bolstering our economic and national security over the coming decades, we have to take concrete steps like this one to ensure we have the trained workforce needed to develop and deploy those technologies,” said Secretary Raimondo. “These Task Force members will help us grow key sectors of our economy and work with our allies in Europe towards our shared goal of training our workers and creating a system of life-long learning.”
The European Commission also announced the EU Co-Chair and the EU Section members of the Task Force and can be found here.
