Santander, NatWest and HSBC among banks closing 193 branches this year – are you affected?


The major banks and building societies often state the reason for the closures being the move to online banking and fewer customers using their in-person services. People who prefer to do their banking in person may want to consider changing their bank if their local branch is closing.

Below is a full list of the banks that are closing branches during 2023, with their address and the date they will be shutting.

Barclays – 11 branches closing

  • Amersham – Sycamore Road – March 1
  • Birmingham – High Street, Kings Heath – March 10
  • Bridlington – Manor Street – March 6
  • Dagenham – Heathway – March 3
  • Ellesmere Port – Whitby Road – March 2
  • Liskeard – The Parade – March 2
  • Sittingbourne – High Street – March 8
  • Sleaford – Market Place – March 8
  • Swansea – Newton Road – March 7
  • Torquay – Fleet Street – March 8
  • Weymouth – St Mary Street – March 3.
