Samsung takes aim at Apple with hugely surprising Galaxy Watch price cut

Apple has just launched its latest batch of smartwatches which are now more powerful, get an improved design and new features such as bigger screen and improved sleep tracking. The Series 10 began shipping to homes last week and, as you read in our full Apple Watch review, is the best wearable Apple has ever made.

Although the more rugged Watch Ultra didn’t get new features this year it does now come in a stunning black titanium colour which is something fans of this bolder device have been asking for.

These are nice updates to the US firm’s watch range but Samsung is hoping a surprise price cut might make you think twice about heading to an Apple Store.

The all-new Galaxy Watch Ultra only launched back in August but this more premium gadget has already received its first major discount.

In fact a quick trip to Samsung’s website will get you a whopping £75 off. That discount brings the cost down from £599 to just £524. SEE THE WATCH DEAL HERE

Along with sharing a similar name to Apple’s tech timepiece it also features a pretty identical look with flashes of orange splashed around the toughened titanium case. Samsung promises it can survive some difficult conditions including extreme cold, baking heat and deeper depths when wearing it in the sea.

It also gets a Quick Button (Apple has long called there’s an Action Button) which launches your favourite features faster and there’s improved fitness tracking.

Just like the Apple Watch Ultra, the Galaxy Watch Ultra has an in-built alarm for attracting attention and there’s Fall Detection which alerts people if you trip and don’t get back up again.

Other features that appear on both Ultra watches include a screen with red “night vision” which kicks in when the sun goes down and bold durable straps that can swapped in a flash.

In our opinion, the Apple Watch Ultra still rules the roost when it comes to adventurous smartwatches but that device does cost £799 and is not compatible with Android.

If you want something built to survive and don’t fancy paying that price then the Galaxy Watch Ultra is worth checking out.

And that lower cost certainly makes it a pretty good time to invest.
