Samsung officially announced that it will be hosting the ‘7th Samsung Security Technology Forum’. The event took place in Seoul, South Korea, at the Samsung R&D campus on August 22. This Samsung Security Technology Forum was hosted under the ‘Hack for Security: How hacking drives security innovation’ theme. The Samsung Security Technology Forum has been hosted by Samsung every year since 2017.

This is the first time in four years since the COVID-19 pandemic that the event was held offline. In Samsung Security Technology Forum, academics and industry officials participate and discuss the latest technologies and trends in the field of security technology. At the launch event, CTO of Samsung Electronics’ DX Division and President of Samsung Research Research Center Jeon Jeon-Hoon Jeon said, “As hacking techniques have evolved, security technology has also grown along with it.” We are looking for security vulnerabilities.

Prominent scholars, including Professor Kang G. Shin of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan, Professor Insoo Yoon of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at KAIST, and Professor Joon Han of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yonsei University, also gave lectures in the field of security technology.

According to the official blog, the Samsung Research team from the UN team Blue Water also participated in the session presentations. Notably, the Blue Water team won first place in the preliminary rounds and second place in the finals at the world’s best hacking competition, ‘DEFCON CTF 31′, held in the United States this year.
