Samsung gives Material You makeover to Galaxy Store – Times of India

Samsung launched the premium Galaxy S23 series of smartphones in India last week. The series comprises the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. The company released the February 2023 security patch to the Galaxy Note 20 series. Now, it has rolled out a new Material You app icon for the Galaxy Store.
The South-Korean smartphone maker has started rolling out Material You makeover for its stock apps. However, not all the apps were revamped with the new design. Now, the company has begun rolling another update to the Galaxy Store that adds the Material You dynamic app icon.

According to a report by Sammobile, the update comes with firmware version 6.6.09.62 and features a white shopping bag icon with a bright pink background. The new icon dynamically changes its background colour based on the active wallpaper’s palette.
Indeed, the update brings Samsung users closer to Google’s Material You experience which is currently limited to Pixel devices.

Those who did not receive the update also tried to shift their smartphone’s date to February 7, 2023, and the trick worked. They’ve received the Material You dynamic app icon for the Galaxy Store, the report added.
Users can also disable the Material You dynamic app icon look from the settings.
Samsung Galaxy Store
Samsung owns the Galaxy Store which is limited to Galaxy devices only. Users will have to create a new Samsung account that will be used for both Samsung Cloud and Galaxy Store. The primary function of the Galaxy Store is to provide apps that are exclusively owned by Samsung. It also helps update the pre-installed Samsung apps such as Gallery, Notes, Contacts, and others. Additionally, it also updates the apps that are not available on Play Store. In nutshell, it is not possible to update Samsung-exclusive apps via Play Store.
