The classy motor, first registered in August 1987, has just just 60,552 miles on the clock.

The interior takes the driver back to the 80s with manual windows and a Ford ESRT 32PS stereo cassette player. The steel sunroof is perfect for a trip to the sea-side on a sunny day.

Auction house Collecting Cars, who are handling the sale, said: “This Ford Capri 2.8i Special is a very smart example of a 1980s icon, offered with low mileage and in impressively original condition.

“Accompanied by a great history file, and with just four owners from new, it will no doubt appeal to dedicated marque collectors.

“The Capri was “The Car You Always Promised Yourself”, and this particular example is a great reason for a keen enthusiast to keep that promise.”

The Capri, marketed as a sports car for ordinary blokes, became hugely popular after appearing in hit tv show The Professionals in the late 1970s.

Dennis Waterman’s character in The Minder famously roared around the streets of 80s London in a Capri.

The car famously featured in the opening montage of the The Minder, showing Waterman’s character Terry McCann buying the car from Arthur Daley.

Meanwhile other Ford Capris have emerged before being sold at auction.

A “unicorn” 1984 Capri MK3 1.6-litre had only picked up 36,000 miles on the clock having spent most of its life sat in a Buckinghamshire garage.

And a similar Ford Capri also went up for sale with a gorgeous yellow paintjob. Meanwhile, a new Capri has been spotted after taking a test run decades after being pulled from production.

The Ford Capri 2.8i Special appears to have changed hands earlier this year. For more information on the car go here.
