Firefighters are battling a fully involved blaze on a rail car on Birmingham’s west side.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service and Birmingham police responded just before 9 p.m. Tuesday to the railroad tracks at Jefferson Avenue and 31st Street.
BFRS Capt. Orlando Reynolds said they arrived to find a rail carrying automobiles ablaze. Heavy fire and smoke were showing.
There was an initial report of an explosion, but Reynolds said he is not aware of any explosion.
As of 9:45 p.m., no injuries had been reported. Reynolds said there was no derailment.
The train is block the roadway.
