Puppet in God's hands

Swami Sivachidananda is an unassuming monk in his eighties, who established the Swami Sivananda Centenary Boys High School in Bhubaneswar in 1984 to give value-based education in a modern, gurukul environment.

Swamiji received mantra initiation from Swami Sivananda, and sanyas from his successor, Swami Chidananda. He answers a few questions posed to him recently:

Q. I am reading self-help books on success that tell us how to get rich. Should one read them for material success?

A. Yes. You become as you think. As per one’s interest, one should follow the thought. The ultimate prayer is: ‘I am thine. Thy will be done.’

Q. Is it wrong to ask for money?

A. God will provide you everything. When the individual will merges with the divine will, one gets peace, bliss and immortality.Q. Why is society so restless? What does man want from God?A. There is restlessness because man has forgotten his own true essential nature or soul force.

Q. But that is not happening. Is this because we are too selfish?

A. Man is not serious about his own salvation and pleased with his sensual enjoyments.

Q. How does man work in such a way that karma does not bind him?

A. By becoming a puppet or toy in the hands of God.
