Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), who’s become a foil of President Biden for proposing that all federal legislation including Medicare and Social Security be “sunset” every five years, is running ads in Florida demanding that the president step down. The White House, however, remains steadfast in its criticism. As the president flew to Florida, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reminded reporters that Scott, a former health care executive, oversaw a company that defrauded federal programs including Medicare and Medicaid, resulting in $1.7 billion in fines: “The man who got rich overseeing the biggest Medicare fraud in history — let’s not forget that — is protesting too much, once again.”
