Every now and then, Amazon runs discounts on some of the best wireless earbuds and headphones out there, and as part of its latest surprise Tech Week sale it has slashed the price of some very popular buds made by Apple.
Right now, the Beats Powerbeats Pro are on sale for £139, a huge 49 percent saving on their £269.95 RRP. Amazon says this is a “limited time deal” so we don’t know how long it will last.
But one thing is certain: this is the cheapest the Powerbeats Pro have ever sold for on Amazon. According to Amazon price comparison site Camelcamelcamel, the Beats were this price once before at the tail end of last year and have now hit their “lowest ever” price of £139 once more.
That’s an excellent price for the Beats, and for a product from a company that’s owned by Apple. This means the Powerbeats Pro have Apple’s H1 chip inside for fast and easy pairing with your iPhone, though these buds do also easily connect with Android phones and indeed any other Bluetooth audio device.

The over-ear hook design indicates these are geared towards exercise. I’ve used these buds extensively and they have not once fallen out of my ears. There are several tip sizes in the box to achieve the best seal and fit, and as you’d expect with Beats the sound quality is great, with tons of low end. I also like that the buds have buttons for controls rather than touch controls, with play/pause and volume easy to adjust even when running or at the gym.
They’re also sweat and water resistant for peace of mind when working out. A full charge should see you get nine hours of playback, and the case full charged will top them up enough to see you through 24 hours before needing to reach for a Lightning cable, which is how the buds recharge.
Said case is very large, one of the downsides to the Beats. I never carry them in my pocket because the case is such a chonk. Also, these buds came out in 2019 so they aren’t the latest model and lack any type of noise cancellation tech.
If you want the newest model, that’s the Powerbeats Pro 2, which currently cost £249 from Amazon.
But if you want to save a packet on the original model you’ll find yourself with an excellent sounding pair of earbuds that will never fall off and keep the tunes pumping while you try to smash that PB out on the track.
Or, you know, just podcasts on the sofa. You do you.
