Pleasant Elementary sale pending | News, Sports, Jobs – timesobserver.com

Sale of the former Pleasant Township Elementary School is pending.

The announcement was made at the Monday meeting of the WCSD Board of School Directors Physical Plants & Facilities Committee.

According to Buildings and Grounds Service Operations Manager David Undercoffer, three bids were received on the school with a high bid of $27,500. Sale is expected to close by the end of November.

Sale of the former school building has been under discussion for a number of years. Of concern was where to put items the building currently stores. In past, due to its concrete flooring, the building has been used to store heavier items.

As a result of the sale, the district needs to clear the building. Some items will be moved elsewhere for storage. Remaining items will be auctioned off.

An auction for items is scheduled for Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m.

Undercoffer also reported the district is looking to finance a new box truck through the state’s COSTARS cooperative purchase program.

The vehicle would replace an aging truck with high mileage, which would be sold.

Two agreements for computer purchases for Beaty-Warren Middle School and district district faculty were approved at a special meeting of the board following committee meetings. E-Rate, or the schools and libraries universal support program, facilitates broadband connectivity for schools and libraries.Through the agreement, the consulting firm would act as an agent aiding the district in applications to the FCC. Broadband and internet application services would be billed at $5,000, while internal connection services would be billed at $3,000.

Renewal of a contract with the Brainstorm platform for Microsoft QuickHelp and the Brainstorm Threat Defense System, a computer technology security awareness program, was approved. The combined services will total $14,254.29.

Two agreements with Beacon Light Behavioral Health for Pennsylvania Student Assistance Programs, one for those in grades kindergarten through five and another for students in grades six through 12, were approved. The SAP system is designed to identify and respond to student substance usage and mental health issues.

An agreement for maintenance services for the printer the district’s human resources department uses to print badges was also approved at a rate of $725 for a base service visit.

All agreements were approved unanimously under a blanket motion covering all motions at a special WCSD Board of School Directors meeting.
