Perks, parades & partnerships. | Featured News Story – Verizon News

Today on Up To Speed live, hosts Raquel and Jen covered Veteran’s Day, Formula 1 and all the ways Verizon is helping you save during the holiday season.

NYC & San Diego Veteran’s Day Parade

This past Veterans Day weekend, we showed our appreciation for the service and sacrifice of veterans, both at Verizon and around the country. Our support was on full display at the 104th New York City Veterans Day Parade.

Members of our veteran-focused employee resource group VALOR joined Verizon Business CEO, Kyle Malady, our Chief Human Resources Officer, Sam Hammock, and other Verizon executives in NYC for the largest Veterans Day parade in the nation. V Teamers marched proudly alongside THOR, Verizon’s Tactical Humanitarian Operations Response platform.

On the west coast, V Teamers also turned out to participate in San Diego’s Veterans Day Parade.

NFL Salutes their Service

The NFL Salute to Service Program is another great way to recognize our military personnel. This month alone, 45 members of VALOR attended eight NFL Salute to Service games. And, this past weekend, VALOR Employees joined the Buccaneers, Bears, and the Chargers on the field for their Flag Ceremony.

For more information on how you can get involved as a Verizon Veteran Employee, be sure to join our VALOR ERG.

Remember: if you’re a Veteran and have not yet updated your career profile, make sure to get that updated on your V Team Central Profile.

Nov 14th LINKEDIN live event

Our VALOR Employee Resource Group hosted a Linkedin Live panel discussion to honor and recognize former military service members around the world.

The panel was moderated by retired United States Marine Corp veteran, and Verizon Executive Director of Communications, Lauren Schulz. The panel included Kyle Malady, Verizon Crisis Response Manager Tetoya Gibson and more.

The conversation touched topics important to veterans and Verizon, including the value of hiring veterans. To all veterans at Verizon and around the country, we thank you for your service.

Throughout December, we’re going to be celebrating the holiday season by asking you to give a shout-out to the V Teamers in your life that make you want to sing their praises.

We’ll be sharing your special shout outs Up to Speed, so keep watching (and reading) for more details in the coming episodes.
