German and French musicians will perform with present and past La Sierra University students at a Wednesday, Feb. 22, opera concert.
The La Sierra University Orchestra will accompany them in playing popular operatic arias at the free performance, a university news release states.
German conductor Sébastien Rouland will lead the orchestra and vocalists for “An Evening of Opera Highlights.” Guest soprano Anne Caroline Grimaldi, of France; university alumni Stephanie Perez; Julissa Ramirez; Juliana Baioni; and Hannah Chang and vocal students Iman Haq; Tashyanna Simpson; and Bridget Lee are set to perform.
The 7 p.m. concert will be at La Sierra University’s Hole Memorial Auditorium.
Pieces to be performed include arias from “Barber of Seville,” by Gioachino Rossini; “La bohéme” and “Gianni Schicchi” by Giacomo Puccini; and “La Traviata,” by Giuseppe Verdi, the release states.
“It is a concert composed of gem-like beautiful repertoires that are easily accessible and impressive even to audiences unfamiliar with classical music,” Raejin Lee, director of vocal studies and La Sierra’s opera program, said in the release.
La Sierra University is at 4500 Riverwalk Parkway, Riverside.
