• The Financial Times reports OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s prepared remarks for an appearance before the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary’s Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology and the Law will call potential U.S. regulation of artificial intelligence “essential.” Altman will also speak to how rules should balance “incentivising safety while ensuring that people are able to access the technology’s benefits.”
  • France’s data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés, published its action plan for addressing the “fundamental issue” of data protection in artificial intelligence deployments. The four-phase plan involves understanding AI, supervising development, supporting innovation and system auditing.
