A service for Frost will be held at St. Luke’s Church in Old Crow on Oct. 24

Old Crow elder Freddy Frost has been found dead within the vicinity of the Arctic community, according to a statement posted to the Vuntut Gwitchin Government’s (VGG) Facebook page on Oct. 20.

The statement notes that, after hearing that Frost had been located, “the whole community assembled at the community hall, then walked together behind the truck as we brought Freddy to St. Luke’s Church.”

It also states that community elders said prayers for Frost and that a family member thanked everyone who gave their time to search for the missing man.

Frost was last seen driving his quad and a trailer near the top of Crow Mountain Road on Oct. 10. He was reported missing to the RCMP on Oct. 14, and the VGG launched an emergency operations centre to coordinate and aid in the search the following day.

Another Facebook post from the VGG states that a service for Frost will be held at St. Luke’s Church on Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. Community members who’d like to share photos of Frost or song recommendations for the deceased’s memorial slideshow can send them to 613-804-4273 or gyde.shepherd@vgfn.net.
