In the ongoing financial year, NTPC may commission around 3 GW of thermal power capacity, from 660 MW added in FY25. It may award around 8 GW of thermal power project work in the current fiscal, similar to last year.
As for renewable energy capacity, the country’s largest integrated power company is looking to add 5 GW in FY26 compared with 3.3 GW in the just-concluded fiscal.
In FY25, NTPC’s target was to add around 3.1 GW, as per its latest post-earnings conference call report.
The company is looking to enhance its coal mining capacity as well. Its coal production target for FY26 is 50 million tonnes.Its 2,800-MW Mahi-Banswara nuclear project in joint venture with Nuclear Power Corporation of India may start the works in the next two months, the person cited above said.
