NSE makes no changes to Nifty 50; adds Adani Wilmar, Power to few indices

The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has made no changes to the Nifty 50 index in its semi-annual review, but has tweaked constituents of other major indices.

Among the major changes that NSE Indices Ltd has done, there is some good news for Gautam Adani, as two of his group firms – Adani Power and Adani Wilmar have been added to a few indices.

Adani Wilmar has been included in Nifty Next 50 and Nifty 100 indices, whereas Adani Power will now be part of Nifty 500, Nifty 200, Nifty Midcap 100, Nifty Midcap 150, Nifty LargeMidcap 250, and Nifty Midsmallcap 400 indices.

All the changes in the indices will be effective from March 31, the exchange said.

While there was some good news for Adani, Paytm owner One 97 Communications had few reasons to cheer as the stock has been removed from the largecap indices – Nifty Next 50 and Nifty 100 – and moved to Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 150 indices.

Along with Adani Wilmar, ABB India, Canara Bank, Page Industries, and Varun Beverages will be included in the Nifty Next 50 index. On the other hand, Biocon, Bandhan Bank, Mphasis, and Gland Pharma will be excluded, besides Paytm.
