Now Elon Musk’s Teslas can see ghosts, apparently

Teslas can seemingly spot ghosts as well as other driving hazards, after mysterious human figures were captured by one owner in a cemetery during a late-night outing.

The unnamed man was driving through a graveyard in Burrillville, Rhode Island, the US, when figures began to appear on the vehicle’s control screen. He was accompanied by his fiancé and brother, who can be heard screaming as the figures multiply on the screen.

Yet funnily enough, just mere seconds before, other people were captured on video walking through the graveyard.

And after the mysterious grey figures began to appear, the camera never panned back to the graveyard to prove there was no one there.

The man, who says he is a Tesla employee, said: ‘[I can] confirm this is not an Easter Egg [that] Elon added, I’ve tried this many times. It’s not just picking up the gravestones as even if it was they would show as stationary on the screen.’

Tesla is known for its hardware ‘Easter Eggs’, which are fun unexpected features embedded into its system to make the experience of driving a Tesla more up Elon Musk’s street.

One example is its heated seat voice commands, another is turning the autopilot computer vision into the Rainbow Road from Mario Kart. A third pays tribute to Mr Musk’s love of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by renaming the car ‘Life, the Universe, and Everything’.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Tesla’s control board has picked up these mysterious figures.

Another TikTok from two years ago shows the dash screen – which should show objects the car could collide with on autopilot mode – picking up human-shaped objects, as well as a dog, which cannot be seen from the car.

However, rather than Mr Musk’s invention doubling up as a ghost detector, this glitch was attributed to a flaw in the vehicle’s collision avoidance system.

However, the latest video’s human-shaped objects could be perhaps attributed to actual humans in the graveyard.

Or ghosts. But probably not.
