Nine Named to All-ACC Wrestling Academic Team – Duke University – GoDuke.com

DURHAM – Nine members of the Duke wrestling program have been named to the All-ACC Academic Wrestling Team, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Seniors Jonah Niesenbaum and Vincent Baker earned their second selection to the team after first earning the honors in 2020. Niesenbaum closed out a career-best season at the 2023 NCAA Championships with a 26-6 overall ledger while Baker complied a 6-6 record on the year at 197 pounds.

Seven Blue Devils earned the distinction for the first time in graduate student Jarred Papcsy, redshirt-junior Patrick Rowland, juniors Logan Agin, Conor Becker and Luke Chakonis, sophomore Logan Ferrero and freshman Ethan Grimminger.

A record number of student-athletes earned selection to the 2022-23 All-ACC Wrestling Academic Team, with each of the league’s six programs boasting at least one selection.

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s matches.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
