Nexus Venture Partners promotes principal Anand Datta to partner


Nexus Venture Partners, an investor in startups such as Delhivery, Postman, Unacademy and Zepto, on Monday said it has promoted principal Anand Datta to partner.
The Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad and Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur alumnus will be the newest partner at the firm’s Bengaluru office.

The Menlo Park, California-headquartered venture capital firm said in a Medium.com blog post that Datta has been central to many of its investments in fintech and business-to-business commerce.
“He has become a go-to person at Nexus for the startup ecosystem. Anand is a trusted advisor to several Nexus companies including Kiwi, Onsurity, Pice, Phyllo and many others,” the post said.

Prior to joining Nexus Venture Partners in 2019, Datta was a regional business development and new markets manager at Swedish healthcare-focussed fintech firm Milvik Bima’s Singapore office, as per his LinkedIn profile.

Datta’s previous professional experience includes positions such as Loan Social cofounder, founding team member and vice president of operations at Magicpin, assistant vice president at Franklin Templeton, consultant at Bain and Company, associate at A.T. Kearney and operations manager at Tata Steel.

Nexus Venture Partners is currently investing from a $700 million fund – Nexus Ventures VII – its largest-ever fund, which was closed in February 2023. The firm backs startups across sectors of artificial intelligence, software-as-a-service, fintech and commerce across India and the US. It has backed startups like Rapido, and software unicorns such as Druva and Hasura.Founded in 2006 by Silicon Valley-based entrepreneurs, the late Naren Gupta, Sandeep Singhal and Suvir Sujan, Nexus has stood out for being among the first Indian venture capital firms to invest in software startups across India and the US.
