The terms of Shohei Ohtani’s contract emerged and baseball fans collectively lost their minds:
Now, as the Athletic’s Evan Drellich and Fabian Ardaya explained, the $46 million per year payroll and luxury tax hit is still the largest average annual value in baseball. But, there’s no doubt this structure will help the Dodgers field a competitive team around Ohtani.
Personally, I say props to Ohtani for caring about winning baseball games. I also found the following two reactions pertinent:
Other than that, the baseball world was pretty quiet yesterday. Justin Lada, of Next Year in Cleveland, Locked on Guardians and his Guardians of the Future Podcast, had Joe Werner of the Prospect Digest Handbook on the latter podcast to discuss the Guardians’ upcoming draft.
