New poll shows Harris leading in two key swing states: Here’s how Trump stands in 2024 US Elections

In a pivotal moment leading up to the November 5 elections, Vice President Kamala Harris secured a narrow lead over former President Donald Trump in Michigan, while both candidates remained tied in Wisconsin, according to recent polls conducted by Quinnipiac University.

These findings suggest a shift in momentum for Harris as the race tightens in key battleground states.

The latest Quinnipiac University polls, released on Wednesday, show Harris leading Trump 49% to 46% among likely voters in Michigan. The survey, conducted between October 17 and 21, included 1,136 likely voters in the state and has a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points, as mentioned in a report by USA Today report.

Meanwhile, third-party candidates, including Green Party’s Jill Stein and independent Cornel West, each garnered 1% support from Michigan voters.

Tied in Wisconsin, Gains for Harris

In Wisconsin, the race remains highly competitive, with Harris and Trump each earning 48% of likely voters’ support, as per the separate Quinnipiac survey of 1,108 likely voters conducted during the same time frame.

This represents a 2-point improvement for Harris since the earlier Quinnipiac poll in early October, which had Trump leading 48% to 46%. The Wisconsin poll also has a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points, indicating just how tight the contest remains. These results are significant for both campaigns as Michigan, with its 15 electoral votes, and Wisconsin, with 10, is among the crucial battleground states that will likely determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, as per the USA Today report. Also Read: Kanye West returns to social media with an insane new photo, fans go wild; this is what the rapper shared

Both states form part of the so-called “blue wall,” alongside Pennsylvania, which is critical to each party’s path to securing the necessary 270 electoral votes.

Gender Gap Shapes the Race

One of the defining dynamics in the 2024 race is the significant gender gap evident in both Michigan and Wisconsin. The polls reveal that Harris holds a strong advantage among female voters, while Trump enjoys substantial support among male voters.

In Michigan, Harris leads with women voters by a margin of 57% to 37%, whereas Trump dominates among male voters with 56% to Harris’s 40%.

A similar trend is observed in Wisconsin, where Harris leads among female voters 57% to 39%.

Conversely, Trump holds a strong lead with male voters in the state, securing 59% compared to Harris’s 38%. This gender divide underscores the differing priorities and perspectives of voters as both candidates vie for support in these crucial states, as per the USA Today report.

Diverging Strengths on Key Issues

The polls also highlight differences in voter perceptions regarding which candidate would handle key issues more effectively.

Trump is favored over Harris on economic matters, with a 51% to 47% advantage in Michigan and a 52% to 47% lead in Wisconsin. On the issue of immigration, Trump maintains a 7-point edge in Michigan and a 9-point edge in Wisconsin.

However, Harris is perceived as the stronger candidate on matters such as abortion rights and preserving democracy. In Michigan, 56% of likely voters believe Harris would better handle abortion rights, compared to 37% for Trump. Harris also holds a 54% to 40% advantage on the issue in Wisconsin, as per a report by USA Today.
