New Language in Senate Defense Bill Would Enhance Tech Security – Bloomberg Law


A handful of procurement-related amendments to the Senate’s national defense policy bill would enhance security requirements for the defense industrial base.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) included a package of generally noncontroversial amendments to a revised National Defense Authorization Act bill S. 2226. The Senate is currently considering other amendments to the bill, which is considered must-pass.

The Senate agreed Thursday to two contracting amendments by voice vote. One (510) from Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) would ban the government’s procurement or use of drones manufactured or assembled by certain foreign entities, including entities subject to influence or control …
