New Aehra Sedan unveiled as luxury EV

Aehra, the US-Italian brand focused on making luxury EVs, has just unveiled its second model, the Sedan.

The understated name comes from Aehra’s desire to avoid giving its cars conventional names, with this four-door ‘Sedan’ joining the firm’s first car, the Aehra SUV. Both cars will share plenty of technology and as we can see from these images of the Sedan, a lot of design traits, too.

Aehra says it’ll enter the ‘ultra-premium’ market, taking on the likes of the Mercedes EQS, BMW i7 and the Porsche Taycan with this new Sedan. The overall design of the Sedan is similar to the SUV’s, with a cab-forward bodystyle, smooth surfacing and strong wheel haunches front and rear.

The front of the Sedan is a little more simple than the SUV, with the leading edge smoothed out. There are still ultra-thin horizontal headlights and fog lights, however, and a short bonnet. Digital door mirrors help to reduce drag, as does a new set of aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels. Ducts behind the front wheels channel air down the side of the car where there are no protruding door handles, again to aid the car’s drag coefficient. The width of the Sedan is extenuated by the thin horizontal LED rear lights.

The Sedan’s party piece is undoubtedly the four top-hinged ‘falcon’ doors, as seen on the SUV. The Sedan will be a strict four-seater, with a huge, full-width screen on the dash, which Aehra says can be extended up when the car is parked. The Aehra’s infotainment system will be unique to the brand. A lower screen will be able to work the car’s climate controls and other features.

Both the Sedan and SUV use the same platform. We expect the Sedan to share the SUV’s triple-motor set-up, powered by a huge 120kW battery. Aehra is aiming for a total power output of around 805bhp and a range of up to 497 miles. Recharging speeds should be around 350kW thanks to 925V architecture.

Both models are on target to be on sale by 2026, thanks to a partnership with Austrian car battery supplier Miba.
