The 44th National Science and Technology Week and Science Fair starts today with the aim of creating and developing technologically innovative attitude among youths at the National Museum of Science and Technology complex.
The three-day event is organised by the National Museum of Science and Technology with the theme–potential and benefits of solar power.
Thousands of guests including teachers, students and parents will attend the programme and the museum authorities are providing the guests with all facilities including accommodation for the three-day event.
The NMST in a press conference on Sunday said that about 700 students at school and college levels across the country are participating in the science Olympiad, quiz competitions and innovative projects.
NMST director general Muhammad Munir Chowdhury said that science was not acquired by memorisation, it had to be practised.
‘The main objective of this fair is to encourage the young society in particular to practise knowledge and develop their innovative abilities’, he said, adding that young scientists of the country will be the craftsmen in building a smart Bangladesh.
NMST earlier organised this competition at 493 upazilas and later in 64 districts with the cooperation of upazila and district administration.
Winners at upazila, district and division levels are participating in the national competition.
The biggest attraction at this competition is the presentation of various creative scientific projects by young scientists which include smart agriculture, solar power, wind power, environmental pollution prevention, climate change, robotics, green urbanisation, medical systems and others.
