Nasa is reporting the latest findings from its UFO experts – here’s how to watch

Nasa’s group of experts set up to study UFOs is set give us an update on its work – and the public can tune in.

The public meeting will take place at the agency’s headquarters in Washington DC from 3pm UK time today.

About 30 minutes before the briefing, the agency will publish the team’s full report online.

In June 2022, Nasa formed an ‘independent study group’ to examine data related to UFOs or unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) as they are now known.

The UAP independent study team is a group of 16 experts across different subjects on matters relevant to potential methods of study for UFOs.

The latest report aims to inform Nasa on what possible data could be collected in the future to shed light on the nature and origin of UAP.

The US space agency commissioned the study to examine UAP from a scientific perspective and create a roadmap for how to use data and the tools of science to move our understanding of UAP forward.

Nasa defines UAP as ‘observations of events in the sky that cannot be identified as aircraft or known natural phenomena from a scientific perspective’.

According to Nasa, there are currently a number of high-quality observations of UAP, which make it impossible to draw firm scientific conclusions about their nature.

The meeting will air on Nasa Television, the Nasa app, and the agency’s website. You can also watch the livestream on their YouTube channel.

When the first of its kind group was announced last year, Nasa said that it would be entirely open and include no classified military data. It would also not be part of similar groups formed by the US Department of Defense.

‘Unidentified phenomena in the atmosphere are of interest for both national security and air safety,’ stated Nasa.

Nasa’s science mission chief, Thomas Zurbuchen, said the agency has the tools and team to ‘help us improve our understanding of the unknown’. The nine-month study is estimated to cost about $100,000.

The study followed the first public hearing on UFOs since the US Air Force shut down a committee on the topic in 1970.
